Jalles Machado's Environment Internal Committee (Cima) received about 40 students from the 6th grade of the Luiz César Elementary School in Siqueira Melo, maintained by the Jalles Machado Foundation. The visit is part of a special Water Day schedule, celebrated today, March 22.
The students got to know the seedling nursery of the company and were able to see the native tree seedlings used in the Reforestation Program, mainly in areas of springs and dams. They learned about the seeds that give rise to the seedlings and the advantages that the reforestation brings to the fauna and flora of the region. The children also visited an area reforested by the company.
Cima carries out environmental education actions with employees and community of Goianesia. "Our goal with this action is to make children aware of the importance of preserving water and springs. Water is a precious commodity that is becoming scarcer every day. Each has to do its part in the preservation and rational use of water", says Cima's president, Humberto Cardoso.
The teacher of Sciences, Alessandro Romeiro, thanked the company for the initiative. "It is very important for students to feel this kind of experience. The practical knowledge provided by this visit contributes greatly to learning and helps the students to be aware citizens in the future", he says.
