CEO Otávio Lage de Siqueira Filho and chief financial officer Rodrigo Penna are in New York, USA, attending briefings and meetings with producers, traders, brokers and investors in the sugar-energy industry. Yesterday, they participated in the XIII Santander ISSO Datagro, a conference that discussed the challenges of the global sugar and ethanol industries, especially the difficulty that the sugar market deals with in the face of proposed measures to reduce consumption of the product.
In addition, the event also featured a panel on one of the most important policies for the industry, the RenovaBio. Experts spoke about the growing number of certifying companies and the contribution of RenovaBio to Brazil's decarbonization targets.
RenovaBio is the new National Biofuels Policy, instituted by Law 13,576/2017, whose objective is to expand biofuel production in Brazil, based on predictability, environmental, economic and social sustainability, and compatible with market growth. From this expansion, an important contribution of biofuels in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the country is sought.
